15 maj 2017 — Martin Fröst, the famous clarinet soloist, has signed a contract as chief conductor for Swedish chamber orchestra in Örebro, Sweden.

The Swedish Chamber Orchestra aims to always push the limits of what is possible. With Örebro as its base, the entire world is its arena, and the ensemble tours with a broad repertoire spanning from Baroque to new compositions.

The Swedish Chamber Orchestra has gained worldwide prominence since its founding under its current name in 1995, with conductor Thomas Dausgaard leading a merged ensemble of municipal orchestra players in the city of Örebro. Swedish Chamber Orchestra The Swedish Chamber Orchestra (SCO) was founded in 1995 and was joined by Thomas Dausgaard as chief conductor only two years later. For the following twenty-two years Dausgaard and the ensemble worked closely together to create their own dynamic sound which has contributed to placing them on the international arena. The Swedish Chamber Orchestra has gained worldwide prominence since its founding under its current name in 1995, with conductor Thomas Dausgaard leading a merged ensemble of municipal orchestra players in the city of Örebro. The orchestra has often performed and recorded Romantic-era works at the ensemble size (about 40 players is typical) for The Swedish Chamber Orchestra, founded in 1995, numbers 38 musicians. The orchestra is committed to developing the ‘surprising’ and ‘fresh’ sound ascribed to it and is constantly expanding its repertoire and opening doors to further challenges together with Thomas Dausgaard, its music director since 1997.
